DIAMINE is a trio from Washington, DC, featuring veterans from the punk community who previously worked the stage, primarily in the '90s and early 2000's, with The Capitol City Dusters, Severin, Discount, Jury Rig, and Routineers. After taking extended breaks from bands the trio came together with the simple goal of reconnecting with the joy of making music - at high volume.
DIAMINE's debut full-length LP, Ancient Riffs, was released in May 2025 on Superbad Records in collaboration with Dischord Records and BCore Disc (Barcelona). The album was recorded and mixed by Ben Green during the summer of 2024 at Ivakota Studios in Washington, DC, and features original artwork by Lucio Schiavon, a celebrated artist and illustrator from Venice, Italy.
In June 2025 the band traveled to Catalunya, Spain for a series of tour dates with Bullitt (BCore Records). The tour included dates in Elizondo, Vidreres, Lleida, Jafre, Vilanova, Barcelona, Molins De Llobregat, and Sant Feliu.
DIAMINE will continue to be more active and play regional shows in support of the new album. Find tour dates here: Diamine Tour Dates.
Alec Bourgeois began playing music in scrappy teenage punk bands in the early 1980s DC Hardcore scene. He later made waves with Severin, which released a series of 7" singles and an album on Dischord Records in 1992. In 1996, Alec formed the Capitol City Dusters, releasing two albums and one EP on Superbad and Dischord Records. The Dusters toured extensively, performing over 200 shows across the USA, Canada, and Europe between 1996 and 2003. During this time, they often collaborated with Barcelona-based band Aina, including a three-week Spanish tour in 2002. After the Dusters disbanded in 2003, Alec took a long break from serious musical projects until teaming up with Bill and Todd to form DIAMINE.
Bill Nesper started his music career as the drummer for Discount, a Gainesville, Florida-based punk band active from 1995 to 2000. During this period, Discount released three full-length albums and toured extensively across the USA and Europe, sharing stages with bands such as Dillinger Four, As Friends Rust, and Purusam. In 2000, Bill moved to Washington, DC, where he met Todd McDonald. In 2002, they co-founded Routineers alongside former Jury Rig members Amanda MacKaye (now frontwoman of Bed Maker) and Ryan Nelson (Continuals, Most Secret Method). The Routineers released an album in 2004 on Dischord/Sammish Records.
Todd McDonald hails from Omaha, Nebraska, and Phoenix, Arizona, where he played in and roadied for various hardcore bands. In the early 1990s, Todd moved to Washington, DC, with friends who would go on to form Hoover. In 1994, Todd formed Jury Rig, which was active until 1996. In 2002, Todd's former Jury Rig mates joined forces with Bill Nesper to form Routineers, who were active until 2005.
